Pros & Cons
Pros & Cons
- The ideal tyre combination for dry gravel routes, with the R at the front for extra grip and the RS as the rear tyre for lower rolling resistance.
- The Super Race tyre carcass combines a 2-ply tread with 3-ply sidewalls for flexibility, speed and control.
- Features a V-Guard anti-puncture layer for extra protection.
- Easy to convert to tubeless (TLR), which offers even more protection against punctures!
- Due to their focus on rolling resistance, these tyres are less compatible with wet or other extreme conditions.

With this set comprising the Schwalbe G-One R Pro and the G-One RS Pro, you get the best of both tyres. On the front is the R Pro: an all-rounder with a tread pattern that gives you grip on bends, descents and climbs. On the rear is the RS Pro: Schwalbe’s fastest gravel tyre, with a fine tread pattern that rolls very smoothly. This gives you control where you need it, and speed when you’re pedalling.
This set is ideal if you mainly ride your gravel bike on tarmac, fine gravel and dry forest tracks, and want to be fast without compromising on grip. One customer rode 200 km of gravel on them in the Hunsrück and was pleased with the balance between grip at the front and low rolling resistance at the rear, both uphill and downhill.
Do you prefer to ride with the same tyre on both the front and rear, for more grip at the rear? Then take a look at the individual Schwalbe G-One R Pro. If, on the other hand, you want to go as fast as possible, you’ll also find the Schwalbe G-One RS Pro available separately.
Race Pro carcass
The carcass is the tyre’s framework. There are two layers beneath the tread, ensuring the tyre rolls smoothly and quickly. The sidewalls have three layers, providing better protection against sharp stones. This carcass is the successor to the Super Race carcass: equally heavy, but offering better protection against punctures and lower rolling resistance.
V-Guard
Beneath the tread is an extra protective layer against sharp stones, thorns and glass. This reduces the chance of getting a puncture whilst cycling.
ADDIX Race rubber
The rubber compound Schwalbe uses for competition tyres. It provides grip whilst rolling very smoothly, so you can go faster with less effort.
Fits
- 28-inch wheels, also known as 700c or 29-inch: they are all the same size (ETRTO 622).
- Gravel bikes with sufficient space in the frame and front fork for your chosen tyre width: 35 to 55 mm at the front, 35 to 50 mm at the rear.
- Tubeless rims (without an inner tube, using sealant) and standard rims with an inner tube.
- E-bikes up to 25 km/h: both tyres are approved in accordance with Schwalbe’s E-25 standard.
Does not fit
- 27.5-inch or 650b (ETRTO 584) wheels: these are smaller.
- A frame or front fork with insufficient clearance for the chosen width.
- Speed pedelecs up to 45 km/h: the E-25 approval applies up to 25 km/h.
- Especially on wet, muddy trails: in that case, a tyre with a coarser tread pattern will be more suitable.
Not sure? Here’s how to check
Look at the sidewall of your current tyre. You’ll see a size such as “40-622”. If the last number is 622, these tyres will fit your rim. The first number is the width in mm. If you’re planning to use wider tyres than you have now, check the maximum tyre width for your bike: this is stated in the manual or on the bike brand’s website. Take your time with this: one customer found they were 2 mm short and couldn’t use the tyre. Also check the tyre width and maximum pressure recommended by your rim manufacturer.
Included as standard
- 1 Schwalbe G-One R Pro folding tyre for your front wheel.
- 1 Schwalbe G-One RS Pro folding tyre for your rear wheel.
- You can choose the width for the front and rear tyres, and a black or brown sidewall.
- If you select ‘Add to basket’ for the Mantel Sealant, you’ll receive two 125 ml bottles: one per tyre.
Not included / still needed or useful
- Tubeless valves and tubeless rim tape, if your wheels don’t already have them: available at tubeless accessories.
- Sealant, if you don’t order it with your order: for example Mantel Bio Tyre Sealant or Schwalbe Doc Blue.
- Inner tubes, if you’re not riding tubeless: choose a 28-inch one in your tyre width from our inner tubes.
- A repair kit for on the go, such as the Lezyne Tubeless Kit.
You can easily fit these tyres yourself. With an inner tube, it takes about a quarter of an hour per wheel; tubeless tyres take a little longer. You’ll need tyre levers, and for tubeless tyres you’ll also need a mounting fluid such as Schwalbe Easy Fit. You’ll also need a pump that delivers a large volume of air in one go, so that the tyre seats properly against the rim. You’ll find these amongst our tubeless pumps. Make sure you fit the R Pro on the front wheel and the RS Pro on the rear wheel. If there is an arrow on the side of the tyre, fit it in that direction of rotation. Schwalbe has a detailed guide to tubeless fitting on its own website.
- The maximum tyre pressure is marked on the sidewall of the tyre. For a 40 mm tyre, this is 4.5 bar, but on gravel you’ll usually ride at a much lower pressure for better grip and comfort. You can calculate your ideal tyre pressure using Schwalbe’s Pressure Prof tool on the Schwalbe website.
- If you ride tubeless, check a few times a year to make sure there’s still enough sealant in your tyres. Dried-out sealant won’t seal punctures any more.
- Check your rear tyre regularly for wear: the RS Pro has little tread and wears out faster than the R Pro at the front.
- After a muddy ride, clean your tyres with water so that you can spot any small cuts or stones in the tread in good time.

Excellent glide, great grip, too heavy
Used in combination with g-one R at the front and g-one Rs at the rear. An excellent combination for a smooth ride on tarmac and grip off-road. It’s a shame about their weight, which is quite a bit higher than stated.
